    Our Community

    Our community

    Each year, ENCOMPASS Benefits chooses to partner with two worthy organizations to give back a portion of what we have been given. We invite our clients to work with us to further the beneficial work these charities do, at home and abroad. All gifts from our clients and staff will be matched by ENCOMPASS Benefits.

    2022 Local Project

    Freedom’s Door

    A Kelowna-based men’s residential recovery program for men caught in addiction and homelessness, operating since 2001;

    • an abstinence-based, stepped program gives men a chance to reclaim productive lives with a support system that can last a lifetime;
    • has helped hundreds of men recover, retrain, and transition back into a sober lifestyle;
    • includes group and one-on-one counseling, life skills, relationship mentoring, education and employment counsel;
    • has a proven system of rehabilitation and is 50% funded by donations;
    • currently has 7 community-based homes, and the 8th will be opening soon;
    • helps all of society as men learn to respect themselves, their spouses and kids, their employers and neighbors and become great community citizens.

    Our Goals:

    1. To raise awareness of the project
    2. To contribute our time and resources to furnish and support their new homes with a $10,000 donation

    2022 Global Project

    The Madagascar Surgical Training Hospital

    Madagascar is a poverty-stricken island with a population of 26 million (roughly the population of Canada, from Ontario to BC).

    • They have only 100 surgeons of all specialties for the entire island. The area has no other surgical services for 200 km, and so people die of simple surgical needs because they lack transportation/funds.
    • This 5-year program will train surgeons to serve in rural areas, where they are so badly needed.
    • The training hospital’s infrastructure is sorely lacking - currently they work with water service only one hour a day. Electric and water upgrades are desperately needed to run the surgical school and hospital.
    A surgeon from British Columbia, Dr. Jesh Thiessen, has developed a new training program and has students enrolled for 2022. Jesh is most willing to meet virtually with any clients who are interested in supporting the program – you could see the program firsthand!

    Our Goals:

    1. To raise awareness of the challenging medical needs in this area and how it can impact generations.
    2. Raise $40,000 to supply the upgrades to the hospital and training program.
    3. Connect our staff and clients with a global project to visit, support and share with others.
